Tech Track and Field Posts Two Victories at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, FL – The Florida Relays continued Saturday as the Yellow Jackets’ women team placed first in the distance medley and the 4 X 100 meter shuttle hurdles. The men’s team finished fourth in the distance medley.

In the women’s distance medley, the Georgia Tech team ‘A’ bested its nearest opponent by over thirteen seconds with a time of 11:35.45. The 4 X 100 meter shuttle hurdles relay team raced to a first place finish with a time of 55.43.

For the men, the distance medley team ‘A’ finished fourth with a season best time of 9:56.91, only 0.23 seconds out of third place.

On Friday at the Stanford Invitational, junior Katie Griffin set a school record and met the NCAA qualifying standard in the 10,000 meters, with a time of 33:57.12. Griffin placed eighth and eclipsed the Jacket record, which had stood since 1994.

Georgia Tech returns to action Saturday, April 6th for the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track and Field Facility.
