Tech Tennis Hosts Boston College, Maryland this Weekend

April 3, 2008

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (11-9, 1-6 ACC) will play host to its final two home matches of the season this weekend at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The Yellow Jackets will face Boston College (7-13, 0-7) Friday at 2:30 p.m. and will meet Maryland (9-7, 1-6) Sunday at 2 p.m.

Live stats can be found at Ramblinwreck.com while video replays of both matches will be available on ACC Select (gatech.playonsports.tv).

This will mark the third meeting all-time between Tech and Boston College. The Jackets have taken the first two matches from the Eagles including a 4-3 road win last season. Maryland and Tech have a much lengthier history between the two programs. The Jackets hold a 22-6 all-time record against the Terrapins and have won the last 18 meetings between the two schools.

The Jackets enter this weekend on a four-match losing streak though freshman Guillermo Gomez has been playing some of his best tennis of his young career. Gomez has won five of his last seven matches with victories over the No. 49, 55 and 82 players in the country. He also battled No. 1 Somdeve Devvarman of Virginia into three sets before falling, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Tech will close out its regular season next weekend with road matches at North Carolina on Friday, April 11 at 3 p.m. and at Duke on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
