In response to the tragic events which took place on September 11, 2001, the Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board, comprised entirely of Georgia Tech student-athletes, will host a toy drive to help support the families of victims in both New York City and Washington, D.C.
All fans attending the Georgia Tech-Georgia football game on Saturday, Nov. 24, are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to the game. Toy collection areas will be located outside Gates 1, 4, 5, and 14 beginning at 5:45 p.m. The toys will be delivered to the cities of New York and Washington, D.C., and will be distributed to families of the victims in time for Christmas.
“The Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board has undertaken this project to try to make the holidays a little brighter for our fellow Americans,” said Tech basketball player Michael Isenhour, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board. “We hope that all Yellow Jacket fans will join us, and we appreciate the support and generosity of the Georgia Tech and Atlanta community.”
All fans that donate a toy will receive a coupon for a $10 ticket to a Tech men’s basketball ticket, regularly priced at $18, to the games against Wofford on Dec. 21 or IUPUI on Dec. 29.
