Tech Softball Opens Fall State Sunday Against Georgia State

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team, coming off its first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference title and trip to NCAA Regionals, opens its fall scrimmage season Sunday with a 10-inning meeting at Georgia State at 6 p.m.

The Jackets opened fall practice September 23 and will conclude October 27 with a 10-inning scrimmage against Georgia in Athens.

Tech will also play Kennesaw State (Oct. 12) and Wallace College (Oct. 18) in preparation for the spring season, which opens February 8 at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.

The Yellow Jackets return 12 players from last season’s record-setting 52-18 season, including junior All-American shortstop Tara Knudsen, ACC Rookie of the Year and all-region pitcher Jessica Sallinger, as well as senior All-ACC catcher Lindsay Wood.

The full fall scrimmage schedule is as follows:

Oct. 6          at Georgia State                6 p.m.Oct. 12         KENNESAW STATE          1 p.m.Oct. 18         WALLACE COLLEGE         1 p.m.Oct. 27         at Georgia                      TBA

Home games in ALL CAPS are at Glenn Field. All games are 10 innings.
