Tech Men Host Wofford, Chattanooga Tuesday

March 17, 2008

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (9-5) will play its final two non-conference matches of the season Tuesday when it hosts Wofford (7-7) at 10 a.m. followed by Chattanooga (9-2) at 2p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.

The Yellow Jackets will meet Wofford for the second time with Tech winning the first match between the two programs, 7-0, on Feb. 6, 2005. Tech is only 1-2 against Chattanooga, though it won the last meeting between the two schools, 7-0, back on Feb. 7, 2004. The Jackets are 8-3 against non-conference teams and 9-1 against team not ranked in the top 25 this season.

Tech is coming off a hard-fought, 5-2, loss to No. 15 Arizona State last Friday. The Jackets picked up straight-set wins from freshmen Guillermo Gomez and Eliot Potvin in the loss.

The Jackets get back to their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule Friday with a match against No. 1 Virginia beginning at 3 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Tech continues its homestand Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. match against No. 31 Virginia Tech.
