ATLANTA – Senior Ryan Bishop won the 100-yard breaststroke (57.26) and 200 breast (2:05.61), junior Peter Doblar captured the one- (298.90) and three-meter springboard (267.40) events, freshman Jing Li won the 200 butterfly (2:05.66) and 500 freestyle (4:59.40) and freshman Ryan Crete won the 500 free (4:36.48) and 1000 free (9:29.90) to lead Georgia Tech against Clemson and Boston College (women) on Saturday afternoon in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
The Yellow Jackets (0-1, 0-1 ACC) fell to the Tigers, 164-134, while the women (1-1, 1-1 ACC) split against Clemson, 94.5-171.5, and BC, 157-115.
Junior Elizabeth Stowe and Li took first and second in the women’s 1000 free for the Jackets with times of 10:07.81 and 10:13.74, respectively. Freshman Alex Roan posted a time of 9:35.44 in the men’s 1000 free to finish runner-up to teammate Crete for the Jackets.
Junior Stephanie England took the women’s three-meter springboard event for Tech with a score of 275.00 and finished second on the one-meter board 231.75.
In the 200 free, sophomore Noah Copeland finished first for the men with a time of 1:40.82, while freshman Agatha Kwasnik clocked a time of 1:53.53 to touch the wall in second place for the women.
Senior captain Alison Walker swam a time of 1:04.82 in the women’s 100 breaststroke to finish in first place, while Bishop posted a first-place finish with a time of 57.26 for the men.
Sophomore David Rifkin won the men’s 200 fly for Tech with a time of 1:53.27, while junior Onur Uras finished third with a time of 1:55.87.
Junior Meghan Campbell clocked a time of 59.62 in the women’s 100 fly to finish in first place for the Jackets. Junior Jason Bourgeois finished second in the men’s 100 fly with a time of 51.21.
Freshman Johnny Hagaman clocked a lifetime-best time of 51.93 in the men’s 100 backstroke to finish in second place for the Jackets. Kwasnik tallied her second runner-up finish for the Jackets in the women’s 100 free, posting a time of 53.15. Copeland touched the wall in second place for the men in the 100 free with a time of 46.50.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to archrival Georgia next Thursday, Oct. 19, to take on the Bulldogs and South Carolina in a tri-meet. That meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com.
