Quote
“We faced a very good pitcher in Jessica Dreswick and she kept us off-balanced at the plate,” head coach Shelly Hoerner said. “We’ll quickly absorb this game and learn from it to prepare for our next game on Tuesday at Kennesaw State.”

How it Happened
The Jackets struck first in the second inning. Leadoff batter Draven Sonnon took a Jessica Dreswick offering out over the left field fence for her third home run of the year.

Boston College gained the lead in the second inning, 2-1, on three hits before Tech starter Emily Anderson struck out three in a row to strand two Eagles on base.

The Eagles added an insurance run in the fourth on two hits to stretch their lead to 3-1. A three-run fifth inning made it 6-1 for the Eagles and three-hit sixth inning, including a solo home run, extended that margin to 8-1.

Boston College entered Jordan Weed to pitch the seventh inning and Tech started to rally. Sonnon and Colleen Darragh reached base and with one out, Rebecca Prairie singled to load the bases. An RBI-single from Jessica Kowalewicz plated Sonnon.

The Eagles re-entered Dreswick as Pierannunzi’s sacrifice fly scored Darragh. The Eagles held on for the 8-3 win after handling Katie Krzus’ grounder to second.

Dreswick (20-10) earned the win after throwing 6.2 innings with one run on one hit. Anderson (6-13) suffered the loss after pitching the first four innings with five runs on five hits and five strikeouts. Brooke Barfield pitched the remaining two innings with three runs, two earned, on six hits.

Quick Hits
– The Jackets have hit at least one home run in five of the last seven games
– It marks the ninth game this season that Anderson struck out at least four batters
– Sonnon scored two of Tech’s three runs
