ATHENS, Ga. – Freshman Ryan Crete clocked a season-best time of 4:30.21 in the men’s 500-yard freestyle, finishing third, to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming teams at the Georgia Invitational on Friday night.
The men’s 200 free relay team of Ofer Finkler, Jason Bourgeois, Johnny Hagaman and Mauricio Sousa posted a third-place finish with a season-best time of 1:21.96.
Sophomore Noah Copeland tallied a season-best time of 4:31.11 in the 500 free to finish in fifth place for Tech. Junior Elizabeth Stowe tallied a 13th-place finish for the women in the 500 free with a season-best time of 4:54.65.
Sousa clocked a personal-record time of 20.72 in the preliminaries of the men’s 50 free, finishing eighth in the finals with a time of 20.77. Freshmen Agatha Kwasnik and Lisa Pucci also posted personal-best times in the women’s 50 free, finishing in 18th (23.99) and 20th (24.21), respectively.
Senior Ryan Bishop tallied an eighth-place finish in the men’s 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 1:52.56 for the Jackets.
Day two of the UGA Invitational will start tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. with the prelims. The Tech diving teams will host the Georgia Tech Diving Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
