Tech Concludes Action at Mexico Invitational

Zach Rath won his singles match and teamed up with Scott Blackmon in doubles competition to pace the Jackets in their final day of competition at the Mexico Invitational.

Rath defeated Brandon Davis of Illinois 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-2 to earn the Jackets’ lone victory on the day. Others competing for Tech were Marko Rajevac who lost to Illinois’ Ryler DeHeart 6-2, 6-4, Jordan Delass who was defeated by the Fighting Illini’s Marc Spicijaric 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(5), and George Gvelesiani who fell to Pramod Dabir of Illinois 6-3, 6-2.

Blackmon and Rath won their doubles match against Spicijaric and Dabir of Illinois 8-5. Two other Tech duos competed, both losing as David North and Marko Rajevac were defeated by Illinois’ Ryler DeHeart and Ruben Gonzales 8-4, and Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani lost to California’s Eoin Heavey and Ken Nakahara 9-7.

The men’s tennis team will be back in action on February 8 as they will take on Furman at home.
