Tech Cheerleaders to Compete at NCA College Nationals

The Georgia Tech Cheerleading squad and Buzz will travel to Daytona, Fla. next Wednesday to compete in the National Cheerleading Association College Nationals on April 6-7 at the Bandshell. The competition will be televised on Fox Sports at a time to be determined.

The Cheerleaders will be judged on the difficulty and perfection of their routine, which will be choreographed to music and will consist of stunts, pyramids, tumbling, basket tosses, jumps, and dance. Buzz will also perform a skit in the Mascot Competition. The squad will be accompanied by head coach Mindy Whire and assistant coach Wil Kelly, and will consist of Jimi Awofadeju, Paul Beckman, Katie Champlin, Brad Colley, Ramie Diaz, Amy Gress, Jessica Lloyd, Drew Martin, Lori Beth Morris, Oliver Mullins, Stephen Munna, Susanne Nelson, Corali Nogueras, Ryan Russell, Zach Shay, Kim Toomer, Alex Trocheck, Jessica Vaughan, and Dustin Weeks.

The Nationals will feature other schools such as Clemson, Louisville, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The Cheerleaders and Buzz will also perform their Nationals routine on Monday, April 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in O’Keefe Gymnasium, and admission is free.
