Success on Tobacco Road

For the second time this season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will travel to the Tar Heel State. This weekend, the Jackets will face ACC Atlantic Division foe NC State in Raleigh. Georgia Tech has won four straight games at NC State and six of its last seven trips to Raleigh.

Since its Thursday night overtime loss at NC State in 2000, the Yellow Jackets are 18-4 in their last 22 regular-season trips to North Carolina, including a 7-2 mark under head coach Paul Johnson. Prior to its heartbreaking 48-43 loss earlier this season at North Carolina, the Jackets had won seven straight games at North Carolina schools and 12 of their last 13.

Between the ACC’s four North Carolina schools, the Jackets are 49-39-3 all-time on Tobacco Road (22-18 at Duke, 10-12-3 at UNC, 8-6 at NC State, and 9-3 at Wake Forest).

Georgia Tech’s last trip to NC State came in 2011, when the Jackets jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back. Tech rushed for 296 yards on the ground added 117 yards through the air. Current Georgia Tech Radio Network analyst Roddy Jones recorded a 38-yard TD reception in that road win at NC State.

Georgia Tech (7-2, 4-2) travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face NC State (5-4, 1-4) for the first of its two games against ACC Atlantic teams. Saturday’s game will kick at 12:30 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
