ATLANTA – Sophomore Vesna Stojanovska swam a NCAA `B’ cut time of 4:49.04 to break the school record in the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle to advance to the finals of the event later tonight at the 2005 Women’s ACC Championships on Thursday morning in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The finals will begin at 7 p.m.
Sophomore Natanya Harper set a new school record in the 50 free with a personal-record swim of 23.68 to qualify for the consolation finals tonight in the Aquatic Center. Senior Jaclyn Keys also moved on to the consolation finals with a season-best time of 23.84 in the 50 free.
Freshman Elizabeth Stowe swam a personal-record time of 4:51.92 to tally her first NCAA `B’ cut of the season to splash her way into the consolation finals with a 10th-place finish for the Jackets in the 500 free.
Junior Liz Foster posted a season-best time of 2:05.41 in the prelims of the 200 individual medley, finishing in 14th place to advance to the consolation finals later this evening. Senior Lisa Hancock moved on to the bonus finals tonight with a 20th-place finish in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:06.85.
The ACC Championship meet will continue on Thursday with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 7 p.m. in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The entire meet can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com.
