THE FLATS – After posting a pair of top-10 individual finishes and leading Georgia Tech to a victory at the Watersound Invitational, Ross Steelman has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Golfer of the Month for February, sharing the honor with Frederik Kjettrup of Florida State.
The junior from Columbia, Mo., posted a pair of top-10 finishes against fields that included 19 ranked teams, leading the 11th-ranked Yellow Jackets to a seventh-place finish (out of 19 teams) at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate and a victory at the Watersound Invitational against a 14-team field that included all 12 ACC teams and two perennial powers from the SEC.
Steelman shot three rounds in the 60s at the Amer Ari and two in the 60s at the Watersound event, where he edged Kjettrup by a stroke. He has four top-10 finishes in seven events this year and is ranked No. 57 in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Index.
The Yellow Jackets have won three times this year in seven tournaments, and return to action March 24-26 at The Goodwin in Palo Alto, Calif.
