Tanner Phipps joined the Georgia Tech Athletics Association staff in April 2023 as an assistant director of video operations. He primarily focuses on producing ESPN, ACC Network and ACC Network Extra productions for the athletics department.
Prior to joining the Georgia Tech staff, Phipps worked for two years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a production associate with the Go Heels Productions crew. In his role, Phipps served as a producer for ACC Network and ACC Network Extra productions, assisted with live production engineering, operated Xpression and dashboard, and assisted with instruction of students in the Go Heels Productions student program. He also worked on press conferences, coaches shows and weekly podcasts.
Phipps got his start in video production as a production assistant student intern at his alma mater, the University of Virginia. He spent two years working with the ACC Network team, assisting with both linear and digital level broadcasts. Phipps got an immersive experience at UVA, holding many gameday positions, including an Xpression and Bug operator, replay operator, director, technical director, and first and 10 operator.
Phipps graduated from the University of Virginia in 2021 with a bachelor of arts degree, double-majoring in media studies and drama.
