Elizabeth Ryan arrived on The Flats as an assistant director of athletic communications and public relations in August 2016 and was promoted to associate director in July 2021. In her role, she serves as the primary contact for women’s basketball, women’s tennis and Georgia Tech’s renowned Total Person Program. She is also the chair of Tech’s awards huddle, serves as the communications liaison to the department’s equity, diversity and inclusion huddle and is the editor of the Georgia Tech football gameday program.
Ryan came to Georgia Tech after six years at George Mason University as an assistant director. While at George Mason, Ryan served as the primary contact for men’s basketball, women’s soccer and rowing. During her tenure in Fairfax, Va., Ryan also served as the primary contact for women’s basketball, men’s soccer and lacrosse. She handled all interview and media requests for coaches and student-athletes for her teams and was also responsible for the day-to-day activities of the programs.
Prior to her time at George Mason, Ryan served as assistant director at Georgia Southern University for two years. Ryan oversaw the daily production of women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis and the golf programs. Ryan also served as the primary contact for baseball and men’s soccer during her second year in Statesboro, Ga. Prior to her full-time position with the Eagles, Ryan served as a volunteer graduate assistant with the department while obtaining her master’s degree.
Ryan is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and a former member of the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
A 2007 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and history, Ryan also completed her master’s degree in December 2008 from Georgia Southern in sports management
