Michele Van Gorp begins her first season as a full-time member of the Georgia Tech women[apos]s basketball staff, serving as Director of Basketball Operations.

As Director of Operations, Van Gorp will work closely with head coach MaChelle Joseph overseeing all aspects of the program[apos]s day-to-day operations. Van Gorp joined Georgia Tech for the 2011-12 season as a part-time academic advisor while working towards her MBA in the Ernest Scheller Jr. College of Business.

Van Gorp played her freshman and sophomore years at Purdue Univeristy for Lin Dunn before transferring to Duke to play her final two seasons under Gail Goestenkors. At Duke, Van Gorp was a 1999 First Team All-ACC selection and a KODAK All-American. The Macomb, Mich., native earned 1999 NCAA Final Four All-Tournament team honors after helping lead the Blue Devils to their first Final Four.

Following her collegiate career, Van Gorp became the first Blue Devil drafted in the WNBA when the New York Liberty selected her in the second round of the 1999 WNBA Draft. She played six seasons in the WNBA with three teams and played internationally in France, Greece, Italy, Russia and Spain.
