Although not listed as a returning starter, Edwards started the final five games of 2009… his third year at Georgia Tech after beginning his career at Virginia Tech… one of the most versatile players on the Tech defense… can play a number of positions from outside linebacker to safety… can also be a key player on special teams… came to Georgia Tech as a non-scholarship player but was awarded with a scholarship from Paul Johnson following spring practice in 2008… began his career at Virginia Tech in 2006 (redshirted) and 2007 before transferring to Georgia Tech… did not have to sit out the 2008 season after receiving an exemption by the NCAA and ACC… needed to transfer and move closer to home because of a family situation… grew up in Atlanta, where he attended Westlake High School.

2009 (Junior)
Emerged as a starter and a leader in the secondary late in the season… played in 12 games and started five times… recorded a half tackle for loss, two pass break-ups and a fumble caused… recorded six tackles (all solos) against Iowa in the FedEx Orange Bowl (Jan. 5)… led the team with seven tackles, including six solo tackles. vs. Clemson (Dec. 5) in the ACC Championship Game… recorded a career-high seven tackles, including six solo tackles, at Duke (Nov. 14)… earned his first career start vs. Wake Forest (Nov. 7) and responded with six tackles, a half tackle for loss and two pass break-ups.

2008 (Sophomore)
Played in every regular season game as a back-up in the secondary and a member of special teams… caused and recovered fumbles… had seven tackles… played very well at Clemson (Oct. 18) with three solo tackles and a forced fumble… had one solo tackle vs. Mississippi State (Sept. 20)… returned to Blacksburg Sept. 13 to play against Virginia Tech, the team he played for the previous season as a redshirt freshman… came off the bench to record one solo tackle and recover a fumble in the season opener vs. Jacksonville State (Aug. 28).. a transfer from Virginia Tech… listed as a back-up at the rover position, but can play any of the four positions in the secondary… was given an exemption by the NCAA and ACC to play this season without sitting out a year… needed to transfer and move closer to home because of family situation… grew up in Atlanta, where he attended Westlake High School.

2007 (Virginia Tech)
Was a reserve in the Hokies secondary in 2007 after redshirting as a true freshman in 2006… played in four games in 2007… added weight while improving his strength and speed during his stint in Blacksburg.

High School
Westlake HS… an all-state defensive back for coach Dallas Allen… also saw action as a wide receiver… registered 98 tackles as a senior… had four interceptions, six sacks, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt… caught six passes for 123 yards… helped team to a region title… contributed 12 tackles, an interception, two pass deflections and a forced fumble during a playoff game against Banneker… an all-city and all-state selection… rated the No. 25 safety in the country by Rivals.com… rated the No. 83 safety in the country by Scout.com… listed as the No. 27 prospect in the state of Georgia in the Rivals.com postseason rankings… had 75 tackles, two INTs, 10 pass break-ups, four forced fumbles and three sacks as a junior.

Born July 14, 1988 in Atlanta… son of William and Maudestia Edwards… as a youngster, won the state of Georgia 200-meter dash for the 11 and under age group… majoring in History, Science, and Technology.
