Solomon Named ACC Performer of the Week

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior Nahom Solomon earned the Atlantic Coast Conference’s opening week Performer of the Week award after a first-place finish at the Jacksonville State Open, the league announced Wednesday.

Solomon garnered his second first-place finish of his career, finishing with a top time of 14:58.10 – more than 22 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. His average mile pace of 4:49.1 helped lead the Yellow Jackets to an impressive 15 points and the race title.

With Solomon pacing the field, the Yellow Jacket runners were able to take the first six spots of the race and seven in the top 10 overall for a dominating team performance.

Georgia Tech cross country will return for the annual UGA Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 with the women slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. and the men at 9:15 a.m.
