Softball Ranked 24th In This Week's ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll

ATLANTA – After winning two out of three games against No. 19 Florida State over the weekend, the Georgia Tech softball team is ranked 24th in this week’s ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll. This is the first time the Yellow Jackets have been ranked since the 2008 preseason poll.

The Yellow Jackets are now 26-9 and 4-2 in ACC play. They are in second place, behind No. 16 North Carolina. The Tar Heels have played one more series than Tech and are 7-2 in league play.

Jen Yee leads the team in batting this season with a .417 average, good for third in the ACC. She leads the league in runs scored (35), is tied for seventh in home runs (6), second in doubles (10), second in walks (24), first in on-base percentage (.544) and third in slugging percentage (.750).

Whitney Haller, the ACC Player of the Week, is fourth in the league in batting (.413), tied for second in home runs (8), tied for fourth in doubles (6), first in RBI (37), fifth in on-base percentage (.475) and fifth in slugging percentage (.721).

Kristen Adkins and Tiffany Johnson lead the pitching staff. Adkins is 13-5 with a 1.40 ERA and .254 opponent’s batting average. Johnson, meanwhile, is 10-1 with a 1.48 ERA and .168 opponent’s batting average.

Georgia Tech will travel to Massachusetts this weekend for a three-game series against Boston College. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. and then a single game Sunday at Noon. Click here to listen to all of the games this season free of charge.
