KENNESAW, Ga. – Georgia Tech softball (21-18, 7-5 ACC) put up a strong defensive battle against Kennesaw State (29-13) on Wednesday night but fell in the bottom of the 10th, 1-0.
How it happened:
It was a battle of the defenses at Bailey Park. Both teams remained scoreless through nine innings. The Owls were making contact, loading the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth but the Tech defense held tough, making three straight outs to keep Kennesaw State off the board.
Senior Emily Anderson got the start in the circle for the Jackets, pitching nine scoreless innings and recording six strikeouts. Sophomore Brooke Barfield came into the circle for the Jackets at the bottom of the 10th. With two out on the board, Barfield walked one to put the Owls on base and a triple to deep right center brought around the winning run for the Owls. Tech fell 1-0 in the bottom of the 10th and Barfield came away with the loss.
