Seniors Daryl Smith, Hugh Reilly and John Paul Foschi have been elected as the permanent team captains for the 2003 Georgia Tech football team.
The senior trio was elected after a vote by the entire Tech squad.
All three are candidates for all-Atlantic Coast Conference honors.
Smith, a linebacker from Albany, Ga., is Tech’s second-leading tackler with 93 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss. A four-year starter, he ranks fourth in Tech history in career tackles for loss.
Reilly, Tech’s starting center from Roswell, Ga., is a nominee for the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center. He has started 36 straight games on the Tech offensive line, and this season he has played every offensive snap for the Yellow Jackets.
Foschi, from Glen Head, N.Y., is the Yellow Jackets’ starting tight end who is fourth on the team with 16 receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Eight of his 16 catches have been for either a touchdown or a first down.
The Yellow Jackets have a record of 5-4 overall, 3-3 in the ACC with three games remaining, beginning Saturday when they host North Carolina (2-8, 1-5 ACC) at 12 noon at Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field.
