The support of Georgia Tech was paramount in Pumputis’ success at this event. Athletic Trainer Beth Harness and Assistant Coach Chico Rego travelled to Brazil to be with Pumputis during the event.
“I had huge support from all of the coaches and staff here,” Pumputis said. “I left 3 days after NCAAs so this staff was really important to make everything work and to make sure I’d be 100% at trials. Having Chico there was really important to give me all the support and tips before warm up and after the race. Beth has been helping me with recovery for the past five years at Tech so it means a lot to have her there for the pre-race and the post-race recovery to make sure my body will be right for the next race.”
