Powlen Leads Jackets at USA Outdoor National Championships

CARSON, Calif. – Redshirt freshman Andy Powlen tallied a fifth-place finish in the men’s junior shot put with a mark of 60 feet, ½ inch, to lead Georgia Tech at the USA Junior Track and Field Championships on Thursday night.

Senior Montrell Person clocked a time of 13.96 in round one of the men’s 110-meter high hurdles in the USA Outdoor Championships to finish sixth in his heat. The Merriville, Ind., native failed to qualify for the semifinals.

Former men’s track standout David Krummenacker (1994, ’96-98) ran a time of 1:50.08 in the men’s 800 meters to advance to the semifinals on Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET.
