Person Wins ACC Title at Outdoor ACC Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Montrell Person won the 110-meter high hurdles with a season-best time of 13.89 to claim his fourth Atlantic Coast Conference title to lead the men’s track and field team to a fifth-place finish (65 pts.) at the 2005 Outdoor ACC Championships on Saturday.

Maimi won its second straight conference title on the women’s side with 142 points, while Florida State claimed the men’s team title with 222.5 points.

Person, a native of Merriville, Ind., posted a fifth-place finish in the men’s 100 with a season-best time of 10.80.

Senior Brian Ford clocked a personal-record time of 47.32 in the men’s 400 to finish in fourth place for the Yellow Jackets. Senior Donald Beamer logged a seventh-place finish in the men’s 200 with a time of 21.89.

Senior Jonathan Spillman finished seventh in the men’s shot put with a mark of 54 feet, 6 inches, both tallying NCAA Region qualifying marks.
