Owings Named ACC Baseball Player of the Week

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Micah Owings was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after his performance in five games against Wake Forest and Purdue last week.

Owings hit .435, going 10-for-23 at the plate, in leading the Yellow Jackets to a 4-1 record against Purdue and Wake Forest. In the two game set against the Boilermakers, the sophomore designated hitter posted five hits in ten at-bats, while recording eight RBI, three runs scored, two home runs and a double.

The Gainesville, Ga., native hit .385 (5-for-13) against the Demon Deacons over the weekend. Owings drove in five runs, scored a pair and hit two more home runs as the Yellow Jackets took two of three from Wake Forest in Winton-Salem.

Georgia Tech returns to action on Wednesday when the Yellow Jackets visit Georgia at 7 p.m.
