No. 8 Tech Tennis Begins Spring Break at No. 48 Texas A&M

March 20, 2006

ATLANTA – The eighth-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team (11-2, 3-0 ACC) will begin its spring break in College Station, Texas, facing the No. 48 Texas A&M Aggies (5-7) Tuesday at 7 p.m. EST at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

Tuesday’s match will be the first of four matches on the week for the Yellow Jackets, as Tech will proceed to Waco to face the 15th-ranked Baylor Bears at 3 p.m. Thursday before returning to Atlanta to host No. 32 Maryland and No. 63 Boston College Saturday and Sunday.

Tech enters the match against Texas A&M riding a four-match win streak, which began with a win over 12th-ranked Vanderbilt on the eighth of March. The Jackets have dropped just two matches on 2006, including the first match of the season to No. 15 Texas in the National Indoor Team Championships. Tech’s only other loss came at the hands of sixth-ranked Northwestern at the beginning of the month.

The Yellow Jackets hold a 1-0 edge in the series, with the only other meeting coming in Atlanta on March 17, 2003, which the Jackets won against the 30th-ranked Aggies, 5-2.
