No. 6 Tech Women's Tennis Stings No. 15 Wake Forest, 5-2

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Amanda Craddock cruised to a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles to lead No. 6 Georgia Tech (16-4, 7-1 ACC) to a 5-2 win over No. 15 Wake Forest (12-5, 6-3 ACC) Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.

The victory extends the Yellow Jackets’ ACC winning streak to seven-straight matches after beginning the season with a loss at Clemson. The Jackets and Tigers are currently tied for first place in the ACC standings.

Sixty-ninth ranked Craddock started the Yellow Jackets off with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ana Jerman at the No. 3 singles position to tie the match at 1-1 after Wake Forest won the doubles point with victories at the top two flights.

Tarryn Rudman, ranked No. 103 in the nation in singles, pushed the score to 2-1 in favor of the Yellow Jackets by dropping Christine Simpson, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 6 position before No. 46 Christy Striplin pushed the score to 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 5 slot.

No. 80 Alison Silverio clinched the match for the Yellow Jackets when she came back after dropping her first set to top 89th-ranked Ashlee Davis, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, at the No. 2 singles spot before fifth-ranked Kristi Miller capped the Yellow Jacket scoring with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory over No. 63 Alex Hirsch at the top singles position.

Tech’s lone doubles win came at the No. 3 slot, as Rudman and Kirsten Flower posted a 9-7 victory over Simpson and Sierra Poske.

The Jackets will now head over to Raleigh, where they will face NC State Sunday at 12 noon.
