After posting a season opening victory over No. 68 Furman, the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team turns its attention to No. 35 Middle Tennessee State. The Yellow Jackets (1-0) will host the Blue Raiders (2-1) at the Bill Moore Tennis Center Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Jackets, who defeated the Paladins by a 7-0 score earlier this week, face Middle Tennessee State for the ninth time in school history. The series between the two schools is tied at 4-4, including a 6-1 win for the Blue Raiders last season in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
“Middle Tennessee State is a very good program and in our last few meetings has played us very tough,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “Last season they really took it to us, beating us 6-1, and I know that our guys are motivated to play well against them Sunday. Much like every team in the ACC that we’ll face this year, they have two outstanding players at the top of the lineup so it’s going to be important that our team plays well from top to bottom in the lineup as every line is important.”
The Yellow Jackets are led by senior Marko Rajevac, who plays No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, and David North, who is playing No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles. North and Rajevac are ranked No. 22 in the latest Fila doubles rankings.
