>> Riding a five-game winning streak, including a four-game sweep at the ACC Championship, No. 24 Georgia Tech opens its 28th NCAA Tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. versus the College of Charleston at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

>> The Yellow Jackets are the No. 2-seed in the Gainesville Regional, while the Cougars — an at-large selection from the Southern Conference — are seeded third. Florida is the nation’s overall No. 1-seed, and battles No. 4 Bethune-Cookman Friday at 7 p.m. The winner of the four-team, double-elimination regional faces the Raleigh Regional winner in the Super Regional.

>> Friday’s game is available on ESPN3 with Mark Neely and Danny Kanell, while Nolan Alexander and Wade Rogers have the call on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta.

>> Tech has appeared in 28 NCAA Tournaments overall, including 26 of the last 28. Over the last 28 years (since 1985), only two teams in the nation have made more NCAA appearances than the Jackets — Miami and Florida State, with 28.

>> Senior 1B/LHP Jake Davies was named the ACC Tournament MVP and also earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors for his monster week in Greensboro. Davies hit .438 with four homers, 11 RBI for the week, and pitched a two-hit, one-run gem over six innings to beat Clemson.

>> Tech is 63-55 (.534) all-time in NCAA Tournament action, that includes a 4-5 record in four trips to the College World Series. Away from Russ Chandler Stadium, the Jackets are 35-36 (.493).
