THE FLATS – Taking advantage of the perfect Sunday afternoon on The Flats, No. 17 Georgia Tech men’s tennis (15-3, 7-1 ACC) powered past No. 40 Louisville (18-5, 5-3), 4-3 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. The Jackets play Thursday and Saturday for an ACC road swing against Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Singles Update: No. 5 Christopher Eubanks made quick work of his opponent, No. 114 Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff, to put the Jackets up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Trailing early in the first set, Daniel Yun brought the heat to extend the Jackets’ lead to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 rout of Clement Filho. Freshman Carlos Divar clinched the win for Tech at 4-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Brandon Lancaster. After the match was won, the Cardinals took all three of their points at two, five and three. Andrew Li fell to Nicolas Rouanet, 6-2, 6-1. Cole Fiegel dropped his match to George Hedley, 3-6, 6-3, 10-5. Carlos Benito battled it out on court three with Parker Wynn but fell in the third, 5-7, 7-6 (0), 10-7.

Doubles Update: The Jackets took the doubles point for the second straight match. Eubanks and Benito rolled to a 6-3 win over No. 50 Wynn and Donohue. Fiegel and Li sealed the point for Tech with a 6-4 victory on court two over Morin-Kougoucheff and Filho.

Head coach Kenny Thorne says: “We did a good job of taking care of the doubles point again today. I thought on all three courts it was some of the best doubles we have played this season so it’s good to start getting some momentum in those again. Eubanks as always took care of business. It was good to have Daniel Yun and Carlos Divar get the win for us early. Now it’s time to get refocused and ready to take on Virginia on Thursday.”
