No. 17 Jackets Open Home Slate Welcoming Owls Thursday

THE FLATS – Coming off a road win at Central Michigan, No. 17/20 Georgia Tech women’s basketball faces a quick turnaround, opening its home slate on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Kennesaw State. The Yellow Jackets and Owls will tipoff in McCamish Pavilion on the ACC Network Extra.

Georgia Tech comes into Thursday’s match-up off its season-opening road win at Central Michigan Tuesday night. Guided by three Yellow Jackets in double-figures, Tech handled the Chippewas, 74-40. Fifth-year transfer Digna Strautmane led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Nerea Hermosa with 18 and Eylia Love with 15. Hermosa and Love finished with career-highs in scoring, while Strautmane and Lorela Cubaj led the Jackets with nine rebounds each.

Kennesaw State also brings a 1-0 record into Thursday, having opened its season with a dominating 100-31 win over NAIA member Thomas University on Tuesday. First year head coach Octavia Blue picked up her first win as an Owl after four finished in double-figures. A total of 13 Owls saw game action, distributing its offense amongst 11 players. KSU shot 46.3 percent from the field and 70.8 percent from the free throw line in the win.

Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State will meet for the 14th time in program history on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series, 13-0, including a 9-0 mark when competing in Atlanta.
