>> No. 16 Georgia Tech steps out of ACC play Tuesday night to welcome Savannah State to Russ Chandler Stadium in the third all-time meeting between in-state foes.
>> The game is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen live on RamblinWreck.com, while Nolan Alexander and Wade Rogers have the call on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta.
>> The Jackets are 6-2 versus in-state opponents this season, are 7-2 in mid-week games and 2-0 all-time versus SSU. The Tigers last visited the Rusty C on May 10, 2011, an 11-3 Tech victory.
>> Freshman LHP Jonathan King is scheduled to make his fourth consecutive mid-week start. He picked up a two-out save in Sunday’s series-clinching 3-2 win over No. 5 Virginia, and was the winning pitcher in relief in last Saturday’s 2-1 win at Duke.
>> After a nine-game absence with mononucleosis, senior Brandon Thomas returned to the lineup in Tuesday’s win at Georgia and didn’t miss a beat — going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. He is leading the ACC in hitting with a .413 average and is ninth in the ACC in both slugging (.560) and on-base percentage (.476).
>> The Jackets won their 800th game all-time at Russ Chandler Stadium this past weekend. Opened in 1985 and renovated in 2002, Tech is 801-225-1 (.780) at the Rusty C.
>> Tech has played five consecutive error-free games and continues to lead the league with a .978 fielding percentage. The Jackets turned five double plays, recorded two outfield assists and threw out three potential stolen bases in four games last week.
