THE FLATS – Junior Nico van Duijn took full advantage of his final chance to qualify for the NCAA Championship Saturday afternoon at the Yellow Jackets Championship Qualifier by posting an A-cut in the 200 fly.

van Duijn put down a time of 1:43.00 in Saturday morning’s prelims, which broke the previous school record but more importantly was :05 seconds under the NCAA’s A-cut time of 1:43.05.

With that A-cut, van Duijn earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Men’s Swimming Championship and also guarantees that Tech’s 800 free relay, which achieved an A-cut at the ACC Championship, also gets a berth.

The previous school record of 1:43.43 was set by Gal Nevo in 2010.

This is the second consecutive season that Georgia Tech will send multiple men’s swimmers to the NCAA Championship.

Tech’s Championship Qualifier continues Sunday at the GT Aquatic Center.
