Georgia Tech men’s basketball closes out preseason play with its final exhibition slated for Saturday at Providence College. The Yellow Jackets and Friars, who have never met in program history, tip in the final tune-up of preseason at noon in Amica Mutual Pavilion.

The Yellow Jackets opened preseason with their first exhibition against Maryland two weekends ago, dropping the decision, 85-70. Tech saw playing time from 11 different Jackets with four finishing in double-figures led by Nasir Whitlock’s 17-point effort. Kayden Allen added 15 points in his non-official freshman debut, while Tylis Jordan contributed 13 points. Jackson Fields just missed a double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with nine points.

The Yellow Jackets open a new era under first-year head coach Scott Cross in the 2026-27 season. The 15-member squad features 13 newcomers that include seven transfers and a six-member freshmen class. Earlier this summer, Tech took a foreign tour to The Bahamas for a pair of international exhibition contests for the first set of matchups this season. Tech grabbed both matchups behind double-figure totals from Nasir Whitlock, who led the Jackets at 19.5 points per game, and Courtland Muldrew (19.0 ppg).

Tech returns just two from the 2025-26 roster – fifth year Kam Craft and sophomore Cole Kirouac – for just 19.0 percent of its scoring. Tech is one of three teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference to return 12 percent or less of its scoring from last season.

Georgia Tech will officially open the season on Nov. 3, welcoming Hampton at 7 p.m. to open an eight-game homestand to tip-off the 2026-27 regular season.
