ALPHARETTA, Ga. – For the third time in program history, and first since 2012, Georgia Tech golf has claimed the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational title, clinching the 2026 victory on the final hole Sunday afternoon. With a 54-hole total of 16-under-par 848, the Yellow Jackets delivered a one-stroke victory for their second win of the fall campaign.
It was a three-way battle for the title all day between Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern and Southern California that came down to the final hole. As the final groups approached 18, USC dipped into third, leaving the fight between the Yellow Jackets and Eagles. Andrew Ferworn finished his final round birdie-par-par to card a 5-under-par 67 with Albert Hansson right behind him. Hansson executed the final hole to perfection, while Georgia Southern’s Harrison Sewell ended with a bogey to seal the victory for the Yellow Jackets.
With the lowest team round of the day, Georgia Tech finished with four Yellow Jackets inside the top-25 individual leaderboard, including Ferworn and Hansson each with top-10 finishes.
“This is a great win for Georgia Tech golf from our team to our fans, the Golf Club of Georgia, and all our families,” commented head coach Ryan Hybl. “I am extremely pleased with the perseverance of our guys today. They were dialed in from the start and were clutch down the stretch. Andrew Ferworn had a tremendous tournament and I’m happy to see him play well. Albert [Hansson] continues to be our steady force every tournament. Everyone had a chance to contribute this weekend and I was happy to see that. We will enjoy this win and continue to improve.”
Georgia Tech returns to the course for its final fall tournament at the Steelwood Collegiate, Oct. 31-Nov. 1, in Loxley, Ala.
