Jackets Defeat Alabama in Fall Opener

Georgia Tech Baseball defeated Alabama, 6-4, in Fall Ball opener

PENSACOLA, FLA -- Georgia Tech Baseball began their 2026 Fall schedule with a 6-4 victory over Alabama over the course of a nine inning exibition at the Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Fla.

Jackson Blakely made the start, after posting a 3.36 ERA over 13 starts in the spring. The rising junior threw 2.0 innings with three strikeouts and no runs allowed before giving way to the bullpen. In total, the Yellow Jackets used six pitchers headlined by scoreless outings from Justin Shadek (2.0 IP), key late innings from freshman, Reid Gainous (2.0 IP) and the save to Caden Gaudette (1.0 IP, 2 Ks), who closed out the game.

Tech started a 10-man batting order featuring returners Will Baker, Kent Schmdit, Ryan Zuckerman, Caleb Daniel, Drew Rogers and Coleman Lewis alongside transfer portal pickups Jackson Morgan, Eli Stephens, Holden Pantier and Jordan Lodise.

Ryan Zuckerman headlined the offensive output, connecting for two two-run home runs in his first two at-bats. Other Jacket runs came courtesy of a solo home run from sophomore Coleman Lewis and an RBI single in the ninth from freshman Isaiah Galason.

The Yellow Jackets will return to Atlanta for their next fall game, a home-and-home weekend series against Clemson. Tech will take on the Tigers on Oct. 31 at 1 pm from Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium before heading up to Clemson for a Nov. 1 game, also at 1 pm.
