The Jackets are hosting an ITA event for the first time since the 2023 edition of the same tournament. Richard Biagiotti emerged as one of best players with a singles quarterfinal run and doubles finalist in his freshman season.
Last year’s tournament saw Christophe Clement and Jonathan Irwanto make quarterfinal appearances in the singles main draw in Gainesville, Florida. The singles finalists and doubles champion during the tournament will secure automatic bids to the 2026 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in November.
All eight Yellow Jackets are set to compete in the doubles main draw with seven entries for singles play. Freshmen Mason Taube and Lucas Yunez will make their ITA debuts in the first round of singles qualifying at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday alongside Owen DeMuth.
Irwanto, Biagiotti, Gianluca Carlini, and Elias Shokry secured automatic bids to Thursday’s main draw opener for singles. The doubles main draw features four Tech pairings of Irwanto and DeMuth, Carlini and Taube, Biagiotti and Shokry, with Hidde Schoenmakers and Yunez.
Tech features six returners from last season’s squad including five of its main starters in singles play from the previous spring. Taube begins his collegiate career as the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Georgia in the 2026 cycle. Yunez enters as the No. 2 rated junior from Ecuador coming off his first career ATP Challengers win and competing at the 2026 Roland Garros Juniors Championships.
Full Steam Ahead
