THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball (10-3, 2-0 ACC) heads out for a four-match road stand to continue conference play against Duke (9-3, 1-1 ACC) Oct. 2 and No. 25 North Carolina (7-3, 2-0 ACC) Oct. 4.

Storylines

  • The Yellow Jackets most recently opened their ACC slate with back-to-back sweeps of Virginia Tech and Virginia.
  • On Sunday, Alida Bennour yet again paced Tech’s offense as she tied her career high for kills (21) previously set in the five-set match against UgA.
  • Her 21 kills on 34 swings with two errors were also enough for a new career best attack percentage. (.559) and marked the third best attack percentage for a Yellow Jacket this season.
  • Bennour is the first Yellow Jacket since Julia Bergmann to record 20+ kills in a three-set match. Bergmann achieved this feat twice during her 2022 campaign including 20 against BYU and 22 against Virginia Tech.
  • With her three aces today, Bennour has recorded multiple aces in eight of Tech’s 13 total matches. Bennour has also seen double-digit kills in nine of Tech’s 13 contests this season.
  • Bennour’s exceptional first week competing against conference opponents was enough to earn the Algerian her second ACC Freshman of the Week honor.
  • Against the Hokies, Laura Bieleski led the Jackets’ offense and earned her third career double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs.
  • Her .600 attack percentage was also good enough for a new career high while her three blocks tied her career high.
  • Zoe Humphrey proved to be one of the most well-rounded players on the court on Friday as she finished Friday’s match with an exceptional .900 attack percentage, a career high mark, with nine kills on 10 swings as well as eight total blocks.
  • Humphrey continues to lead the Jackets in blocks with 56 so far this season with her eight blocks tying her performance against UgA for second most blocks in a single match for a Yellow Jacket this season.
  • This weekend marks the first time since 2023 that Tech has begun conference play 2-0 and the first time since 2022 that the Yellow Jackets began conference play 2-0 as a result of back-to-back sweeps.
  • Tech was one of five ACC schools to start conference play 2-0, but the only non-ranked program to do so (No. 2 Pittsburgh, No. 4 Louisville, No. 5 SMU, No. 25 North Carolina).
  • Amongst ACC competitors, Tech is first for opponent digs (10.40), second for aces, third for opponent kills (11.18), fourth for points (17.50), fourth for opponent assists (10.49), and fifth for opponent hitting percentage (.177).
  • The Jackets continue to receive votes in the weekly AVCA poll, despite still remaining outside the top-25 rankings.
  • After selling out the conference opening weekend against Virginia Tech and Virginia, Tech has seen 63 consecutive sold out matches at O’Keefe Gymnasium, extending a streak dating back to the 2021 season.
