Set 1 (GT 25 – OU 15)
- Tech jumped out in front early, establishing a four-point lead and forcing an Oklahoma timeout early into set one (9-5). Both teams pieced together six points, resulting in the Jackets leading 15-11 through to the media timeout. A pair of service errors, an ace from Bennour and a kill from Garibaldi were enough to push the Sooners to call yet another timeout to try to sort out the Jackets’ offense. Kills from Bennour, Bieleski, and Garibaldi combined with two Sooner attack errors were enough for Tech to take the set one win. Bennour opened the match with six or Tech’s 11 set one kills with a .385 attack percentage along with three aces. Bieleski also saw multiple aces in the first set (2) as well as two digs and one block assist. Of her five total block assists, Garibaldi tallied two to kick things off against the Sooners. Soares was able to make solid connections with her hitters, recording nine assists on 17 attempts for a .529 assist percentage.
Set 2 (GT 25 – OU 19)
- The Jackets came alive in set two, limiting the Musketeers to only five kills on 24 attacks and nine digs while stacking three blocks, four aces, and 12 kills with a .346 attack percentage. Tech jumped out in front, quickly establishing a six-point lead before Xavier could call a timeout to try to regroup. The Jackets’ offense kept their foot on the gas, outscoring the Musketeers 9-8 to maintain a seven-point lead going into the media timeout. Tech was able to navigate the rest of the set with ease, allowing Xavier only another five points while stacking 10 for the 25-13 set two win. Both Bieleski and Bennour saw three kills in set three alongside Soares, Zoe Humphrey, and Bianca Garibaldi. Soares added another nine assists to her total while Kaneko, Bennour, and Kobaidze had one apiece. Bieleski had a hand in each of Tech’s three set three blocks with help from Garibaldi and Humphrey.
Set 3 (GT 23 – OU 25)
- Despite denying the Sooners a single run through the third set, Tech went on to drop set three after a pair of Yellow Jacket attack errors and one Sooner kill proved to be enough to keep the match alive. Oklahoma was able to record 17 kills with a .389 attack percentage despite Tech being able to respond with three blocks, led by Bennour and Humphrey with two apiece. Bennour once again led Tech’s offense through set three with five kills while Humphrey, Bieleski, and Kobaidze recorded two each. Kaneko shared the load with Soares in set three with the libero recording four assists and Tech’s go to assist expert recording seven. Kobaidze also helped out on defense with the freshman recording a team high five digs.
Set 4 (GT 25 – OU 21)
- Set four followed similar to set one with Tech establishing a 9-4 lead and causing yet another early Oklahoma timeout only to go on to hold a 15-11 lead at the media timeout. Tech retained its four-point lead through to the 25-21 match win. Regardless of the Sooners recording more kills the Yellow Jackets held an edge as far as accuracy with their .364 attack percentage compared to Oklahoma’s .269. Tech saw Garibaldi and Soares team up for two final blocks together. Garibaldi recorded three kills in the final from as did Humphrey and Bieleski. Soares closed the day with 11 assists on 19 attempts, good for a match high .579 assist percentage.

The Yellow Jackets will prepare for a four-match road stint starting with the Ameritas Players Challenge hosted by No. 1 Nebraska. Tech opens the tournament against No. 20 Baylor Sept. 10 at 5 p.m.
