  • The afternoon match on The Flats marked the 61st consecutive sold out match at O’Keefe Gymnasium, a streak dating back to the 2021 season.

SET BY SET

Set 1 (GT 25 – XU 15)

  • Tech began the match keeping Xavier on its heels, establishing a three-point lead before the Musketeers called their first timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Tech outscored Xavier 6-4 to go into the media timeout leading 15-10. The media timeout proved to be beneficial to the Jackets as they extended their lead to eight before the Musketeers could get another point on the board. Tech went on to take set one, 25-15, with Bieleski having a stunner of an opening set with seven kills and a .417 attack percentage. Bennour and Kobaidze recorded three apiece as well. Soares started the match with 14 assists on 29 attempts and one service ace. Kaneko had a solid start as well, leading the group with eight digs in the opening frame.

Set 2 (GT 25 – XU 13)

  • The Jackets came alive in set two, limiting the Musketeers to only five kills on 24 attacks and nine digs while stacking three blocks, four aces, and 12 kills with a .346 attack percentage. Tech jumped out in front, quickly establishing a six-point lead before Xavier could call a timeout to try to regroup. The Jackets’ offense kept their foot on the gas, outscoring the Musketeers 9-8 to maintain a seven-point lead going into the media timeout. Tech was able to navigate the rest of the set with ease, allowing Xavier only another five points while stacking 10 for the 25-13 set two win. Both Bieleski and Bennour saw three kills in set three alongside Soares, Zoe Humphrey, and Bianca Garibaldi. Soares added another nine assists to her total while Kaneko, Bennour, and Kobaidze had one apiece. Bieleski had a hand in each of Tech’s three set three blocks with help from Garibaldi and Humphrey.

Set 3 (GT 25 – XU 23)

  • Set three began with both Tech and Xavier fighting to get distance from one another with the Jackets being able to take a two-point lead over the Musketeers going into the media timeout. Tech continued to use its momentum to push the set to 20-14 before Xavier took its final timeout before piecing together six points to bring the set within three points (23-20). Despite the late push from the Musketeers, the Jackets sealed the sweep with an ace from Kaneko and kills from Kobaidze and Gabi Robinska. Bennour added another five kills, three digs, and one block assist to reach double-double territory. Kobaidze assisted Bennour in helping Tech secure the win with another four kills.
