Jackets Finish Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational in 12th

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Paced by a 2-under-par 68 final round from Albert Hansson, Georgia Tech golf closed out its third tournament of the season on Tuesday in 12^th-place at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab. Hansson, who won the individual title last season at the event, collected his second top-25 finish of the season, tying for 16^th.

Facing a highly-competitive field that featured 14 of the 16 teams ranked in the top 23, Georgia Tech produced a team total of 866 (+26). Alabama captured the team title with a 54-hole total of 840 at even-par. Of the 16-team field, no squad finished under par and only seven golfers finished the tournament individually subpar.  

Georgia Tech returns to action at its home tournament, the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 16-18, at the Golf Club of Georgia.   

TECH LINEUP – Carding Tech’s only subpar round of the tournament, Hansson (Fiskebäckskil, Sweden) recorded five birdies on the final day of competition to finish with a 2-under-par 68. Hansson finished the tournament at 3-over-par 213 and in a three-way to for 16^th-place.

Recording his best showing of the season, Kale Fontenot (Lafayette, La.) tied for 27^th after a final round 74. The senior Yellow Jacket concluded the tournament at 6-over-par 216.

Max Emberson (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) concluded his third tournament of his collegiate career with a 73 on Tuesday. The freshman finished with a tournament total of 217 (+7) and tied for 32^nd.  

Andrew Ferworn (Houston, Texas) posted a 5-over-par 75 on Tuesday to finish the tournament in a tie for 70^th at 225.

Carson Baez (Davenport, Fla.), who did not count towards the team total on Tuesday, tied for 68^th at 224.

TEAM LEADERBOARD – With one of the lowest rounds of the day, Alabama slid into first-place with a final round 4-over-par 284. After standing in a tie for second after 36 holes, the Tigers took home the team with an even-par 840 tournament total.

Auburn finished second at 845 (+5), while Texas Tech and North Carolina finished in a tie for third at 852 (+12). Texas took fifth-place with a 13-over-par team total of 853.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD – It was a race to the finish for the individual title as Texas Tech’s Adam Bresnu recorded a one-shot victory for the top finish. Bresnu finished the tournament at 7-under-par 203, while JD Culbreth (Georgia) finished second at 204 (-6).

Three golfers – Preston Stout (Oklahoma State) and Alabama teammates Nicholas Gross and William Jennings – tied for third at 208 (-2).

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION – Georgia Tech competed in the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational for the fifth time with finishes of 12^th (2022), 8^th (2023), 8^th (2024), 7^th (2025) and 12^th (2026). Christo Lamprecht earned a share of the individual title two seasons ago, while Albert Hansson captured the individual title a year ago.

TCU served as host for the prestigious event, which was contested at the Colonial Country Club (annual host to the Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour). It played a par 70 and measured 7,289 yards. In its ninth rendition, the individual winner will receive exemption to play in the 2027 Charles Schwab Challenge. Last year, Virginia, North Carolina and Vanderbilt finished in a three-way tie for first in the team standings.
