THE FLATS – Georgia Tech golf climbed to No. 9 in the second installment of the Bushnell/Golfweek DI Coaches’ Poll announced on Friday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets, who were ranked No. 25 in the preseason poll, have opened the 2025-26 season with a pair of top-10 finishes, including a tournament title. Behind impressive performances from freshman Max Emberson, Tech has gotten its season off to a strong start to open the Ryan Hybl era.
Tech started the season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, sweeping both the team and individual titles. With an 18-under-par team total of 834, the Yellow Jackets claimed a five-stroke victory for the team trophy, while Emberson shined in his collegiate debut with an 11-under-par 202 for the individual crown. Emberson put together rounds of 63-72-67 for the two-stroke victory, while Albert Hansson finished in a tie for sixth-place at 5-under-par 208.
Just a week later, Tech finished 8th at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational at 22-under-par 818. Emberson became the first Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket freshman to win his first two consecutive collegiate tournaments as the Thousand Oaks, Calif., native finished 13-under-par (197) to claim a share of the crown.
Tech is back in action next week with a return appearance in the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab, Sept. 27-28, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
