ESPN Announces SEC/ACC Challenge Designations

Georgia Tech set to tip at Mississippi State at 9:15 p.m. Dec. 2

THE FLATS – ESPN announced the network schedule for the fourth annual SEC/ACC Challenge, a three-day showcase featuring premier programs competing in non-conference matchups, on Monday morning. Georgia Tech is set to tip at Mississippi State at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs will be broadcast on SEC Network from Humphrey Coliseum.

Georgia Tech and Mississippi State will meet for the third time in four years in the Challenge as Tech hosted MSU in both 2023 and 2025. Tech is 1-1 when competing against Mississippi State in the Challenge. Tech, a member of the Southeastern Conference from 1933-64, leads the all-time series with Mississippi State, 17-14, with a 5-6 record on the road. Tech last traveled to Starkville in 1975, taking the meeting, 64-61.

Georgia Tech men’s basketball begins a new era under first-year head coach Scott Cross, who was announced as Tech’s 16th head coach in program history in March. A proven winner and builder of programs, Cross comes to The Flats with 19 years of head coaching experience, most recently leading Troy to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and consecutive Sun Belt Conference championships. In his tenure as a head coach, Cross has won seven conference championships, four regular-season and three tournament, and 350 career games, while leading his teams to eight total postseason berths. A three-time coach of the year, Cross has produced 10 20-win seasons in all as a head coach, including his last five seasons at Troy.

Georgia Tech will tip-off the Cross era on Tues., Nov. 3 when the Yellow Jackets welcome Hampton to McCamish Pavilion for the first of 19 home games this season. Season tickets remain on sale for the upcoming season.
