ATHENS, GA. – Georgia Tech volleyball (8-3, 0-0 ACC) saw its first five-set match of the season as it fell 3-2 to UgA (8-2, 0-0 SEC) in Athens on Saturday night.
Quick Hits:
- Alida Bennour was nothing short of exceptional on Saturday night as she finished the match with 21 kills, two aces, three blocks, and 11 digs.
- Her 21 kills were not only a new career high but also the first time a Yellow Jacket has surpassed 18+ kills this season so far. Bennour owns four of Tech’s of the top-five kill performances of the season with 17 kills against Loyola, 16 kills against Oklahoma and another 16 kills against the No. 1 Huskers.
- The right side’s 21 kills combined with her 11 digs also earned Bennour her third career double-double.
- Heloise Soares earned her third double-double of season, 15th of her career, with 41 assists and 11 digs.
- The senior’s 41 assists marked her 18th career match recording 40 or more assists as a Yellow Jacket.
- Anna Fiedorowicz saw a season high day as she recorded eight kills, five digs, and four blocks across three sets played. Her four put downs tied her career high for blocks set last season against Stanford.
- Tech saw its third most blocks of the season (10).
- The last time either Georgia Tech or UgA saw a win over the other while hosting the match was back in the 2021 season when the Yellow Jackets swept the Bulldogs in September on The Flats.

Set 1 (GT 25 – UgA 19)
The match began with the Jackets taking a strong set one lead and fending off the Bulldogs’ late five-point run for the 25-19 set one win. Tech began the match establishing an early offensive presence, holding a four-point lead going into UgA’s first timeout (10-6) and the media timeout (15-11). The Jackets went on to hold at the most a nine-point lead before the hosting Bulldogs reeled the set back to a four-point differential (22-18). Two kills from Kobaidze and one kill from Humphrey proved to be enough to seal the set one win.
Set 2 (GT 15 – UgA 25)
Tech found itself fighting to come back in the next set with the hosts collecting the first four points of set two. The Jackets brought the second set within one point (9-8) before the Bulldogs went on to outscore Tech 6-2 and extend their lead before the media break. Despite its offensive effort, Tech saw an increase in attack and service errors leading to UgA taking set two.
Set 3 (GT 25 – UgA 21)
Set three began with the Jackets outscoring the Bulldogs 8-3 out of the gate, costing UgA to burn its first set three timeout. Despite bringing the set within two points (9-7), Tech’s offense continued to thrive with Tech establishing at most a seven-point lead. UgA fought to erase the deficit and even saw as close of a two-points distance from Tech but a block from Fiedorowicz and Humphrey combined with kills from each of those Jackets was enough to secure the third set.
Set 4 (GT 22 – UgA 25)
In the fourth set, Tech maintained a slight edge over UgA before the Bulldogs were able to claim the 15-14 lead going into the media timeout. Despite reclaiming the lead (17-16), UgA went on a six-point run, forcing the Jackets to trail 22-17. Kills from Fiedorowicz and Robinska along with a big block from Robinska and Humphrey brought the set within two points before a UgA timeout cut Tech’s momentum to help the Bulldogs take set four, 25-22, and force a fifth set.
Set 5 (GT 10 – UgA 15)
The final set began with both teams trading points through to the 7-7 mark. A four-point run from the hosting Bulldogs provided enough room as the Yellow Jackets continued to try side out and shut down the UgA hitters. Bennour tallied two final kills to surpass the 20-kill mark but Tech’s defense couldn’t contain the Bulldogs quick enough to avoid the 15-10 set five loss.
