Heppler Selected to Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Legendary Georgia Tech golf coach announced as member of Class of 2027

THE FLATS – Legendary Georgia Tech golf coach Bruce Heppler has been selected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2027. The 71st annual induction will be held the weekend of Feb. 19-20 in Macon.

One of the most decorated head coaches in college golf history, Heppler retired from Georgia Tech after serving his 31st season with the Yellow Jackets in 2025-26. During his tenure at the helm, Heppler guided the Jackets to 28-straight NCAA regionals (every season since 1998), 22 NCAA finals and four national runner-up finishes. Most recently, Tech advanced to the NCAA semifinals in both 2023 and 2024, earning their fourth second-place finish under Heppler in ’23 and tying for third in ’24.

Capturing the Pauma Valley Invitational last season, Heppler led Georgia Tech to 74 tournament wins as head coach, which also included six NCAA regional championships. On the conference level, he led Georgia Tech to 14 Atlantic Coast Conference championships and was a 10-time ACC Coach of the Year.

Individually, he coached two NCAA champions, three national players of the year, three U.S. Amateur champions and a British Amateur champ.

A St. George, Utah native, Heppler came to Georgia Tech in 1995. He is a member of the Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame (inducted in 2013) and the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame (inducted in 2022). In 2018, he was named an honorary alumnus of Georgia Tech.

Heppler joins a class that includes Terrance Edwards, Todd Greene, Angie Hembree, Dave Hunter, Mike Kenn, Allen Miller, Terry Pendleton, Richard Seymour and Brian Snitker.
