Set 1 (GT 25 – NM 13)
- Tech wasted little time jumping on New Mexico, establishing a six-point lead and forcing and early timeout. Coming out of the Lobos set one timeout, the Jackets stacked another five points while only allowing another two for New Mexico before the media timeout (15-6). Tech’s .467 attack percentage in the first just could not be contained leading to the Jackets 25-13 set one win. The freshman proved to be the driving force in the opening frame with both Bennour and Kobaidze recording five kills respectively. Garibaldi tallied four kills in the first set with a .667 which was second to only Kobaidze who ran off a .714 clip. Soares began strong with 14 assists on 23 attempts, good for a .609 assist percentage. The setter pitched in three digs as did Kaneko, both of which were second to Kobaidze who had four digs.
Set 2 (GT 25 – NM 16)
- The Jackets maintained their offensive execution in the second set with a .452 attack percentage. Tech’s exceptional offensive effort was complimented with a solid defensive effort, limiting the Lobos to six kills and a .032 attack percentage. Once again, Tech established an early lead, prompting an early New Mexico timeout but it would still be Tech leading going into the media timeout (15-13). Not only did the Jackets quickly stack 10 final points to take the set two win but also held the Lobos to only an additional three points in the set (25-16). For the second straight set, Kobaidze worked off a .571 attack percentage, recording five kills on seven swings. Garibaldi also proved to remain dangerous at the net with a .714 attack percentage and five kills. Soares saw a match high 16 assists off 25 attempts for a .640 assist percentage. Defensively, Kaneko led the group with six digs; Zoe Humphrey and Garibaldi led the group in blocks with two apiece while Bennour, Soares, Kobaidze and Laura Bieleski all had a piece of one put down respectively.
Set 3 (GT 25 – NM 17)
- Set three saw Tech take full control as it took a comfortable six-point lead going into the media timeout. Despite the Lobos bringing the set within five points, the Jackets were able to fend off New Mexico’s .161 attack percentage while a establishing a .429 attack percentage of their own with 18 kills. Soares capped the day with 14 final kills and a .500 assist percentage. Bieleski found herself leading the group in digs (6) in the final set. With a .556 attack percentage and six kills, Bennour finished strong alongside Bieleski who had four kills.
