Jackets Secure Seven Wins at Debbie Southern Fall Classic

Four singles victories and three in doubles to start the fall

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis started the 39th Annual Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic with seven victories (four singles, three doubles) Friday, including a perfect day from freshman Rishitha Basireddy. 

In the opening round of their doubles flight, the duos of Given Roach/Eleni Karantali and Sabritt Dozier/Basireddy defeated pairs from South Carolina and Illinois, respectively. Dozier and Basireddy followed that up with a second-round victory over a team from NC State, 6-4, to advance on the winner’s side. 

Four Yellow Jackets captured singles wins Friday, including Taylor Goetz in flight two, Seri Nayuki in flight four and Olivia Carneiro and Basireddy in flight five. Nayuki stormed back after dropping her first set, 4-6, to secure 6-1 and 7-5 sets for the win. 

Tech returns to the courts for day two on Saturday, Sept. 12 starting at 9:00 a.m.
