Set 1 (GT 25 – UNI 22)
- Tech took control from the opening serve, establishing an early 13-6 lead in the first set. Set one went on to see Tech hold its lead all the way through to a 25-22 set win despite the Panthers’ late offensive efforts. Kobaidze led Tech’s offense in set one with five kills alongside Bieleski who notched four. Soares began the match recording 10 of Tech’s 13 set one assists as well as recording Tech’s first ace of the season. Garibaldi and Bennour fortified Tech’s defense at the net with a pair of blocks each.
Set 2 (GT 25 – UNI 21)
- Despite getting a five-point jump on the Panthers to start the second set, the Yellow Jackets fought to retain the lead as UNI brought the set within one point early on. Tech responded by re-establishing its five-point lead before keeping UNI at a minimum three-point distance from tying the match through the remainder of the set. Kobaidze and Bieleski recorded another four kills respectively in set two while Soares was credited with 13 assists. Mana Kaneko saw a match-high seven digs in the second set which was the most of any player from either team across the entire match.
Set 3 (GT 25 – UNI 17)
- Set three began as what appeared to be the most evenly matched set of the match, with Tech holding a three-point lead going into a UNI timeout (10-7). Following the timeout, the Yellow Jackets went on to outscore the Panthers, 7-3, prompting a second UNI timeout. From then on, Tech maintained no less than a five-point lead through to the 25-17 set three finish. Bieleski finished on a high note as she recorded her third consecutive set with four kills. Bethea found her rhythm in the final set as well recording four kills on eight swings. Along with her four kills, Bethea saw her first career solo block in the third set. Soares finished the day with 13 final assists in set three. Bieleski and Kobaidze rounded out the day with five digs each.
UP NEXT
The Yellow Jackets remain in Iowa to continue competing in the Cyclone Invite with their next match set for Saturday at 5 p.m. against Iowa State. The match is set to be streamed on ESPN+.

Tech volleyball’s annual McCamish Match is set to return with twice the action as the Yellow Jackets will take on No. 4 Pitt and No. 11 SMU. Tickets are priced as follows for the ranked matches:
