Five Jackets Represented on 2022 Volleyball All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech volleyball’s Bella D’Amico, Nicole Drewnick, Laura Fischer, Erin Moss and Paola Pimentel have each been selected to the 2022 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team, the league announced on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets receive the honor for a combination of their academic excellence and on-court contributions.

The announcement sets the program record for the most honorees in a season with five. On an individual scale, the recognition marks the first such honor for each of the five Jackets.

Each student-athlete named to the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team has maintained a career GPA of 3.0 or higher and posted a 3.0 GPA or higher in the most recent semester. Along with each honoree’s academic achievements, athletic contributions played a role in each selection as all five participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s matches throughout the 2022 season on the way to a third straight NCAA tournament berth and No. 16 final AVCA ranking in 2022.

Surpassing 1,000 career assists for the first time in her career, D’Amico landed All-ACC Second Team honors during her first year running the point. The Westerville, Ohio, native finished top five in the conference in both assists (1.042) and assists per set (10.12) on the year as she racked up a career-high 61 assists against No. 7 Pitt.

Fellow setter Nicole Drewnick supported D’Amico throughout the season, most notably setting up the Tech attack on the way to its first win of the season against Ole Miss, finishing with 34 assists.

Fischer served as a spark plug for the Jackets in 2022, making her presence felt in 13 matches and setting a career high of three blocks against No. 17 Illinois.

Moss joined D’Amico on the All-ACC Second Team, adding explosiveness to the offense and anchoring the defense from the middle as she made good on her Preseason All-ACC selection. The Valdosta, Ga., native not only finished with a top-five hitting percentage in the league (.347) on 207 kills, but also eclipsed 100 blocks on the year with 105 total and a team-leading 19 solo blocks, highlighted by a career-high nine total blocks against Boston College.

Pimentel cleaned up the back end for the White and Gold, finishing top 10 amongst the ACC with 374 digs. The Brazilian libero set a career high in digs against Miami, finishing with 23 in the match.

The Jackets will prepare to build on their successful fall for another triumphant season on The Flats in 2023.
