How it Happened
Ohio State gained momentum early in set one, using a pair of six-point runs to jump ahead, 15-7. The Buckeyes would roll on, maintaining their distance despite a couple of three-point bursts from Tech. Ending the Jackets’ final push, Ohio State claimed a 25-19 win in the first set.
Georgia Tech flipped the script in set two, taking the early advantage with a five-point stretch to move ahead, 7-3. Two more three-point runs by the Yellow Jackets capped by an ace from junior outside hitter Tamara Otene propelled Tech further in front, 16-11. The White and Gold would extend the lead to as much as seven with a 21-14 advantage, keeping the Buckeyes behind by four or more the rest of the way for a 25-20 second-set win.
The Buckeyes came firing back in set three, taking 11 of 12 early points to pull ahead, 14-5. The Jackets would subsequently answer, taking eight of the next nine points to trim the lead to 15-13. Ohio State continued to tread forward, reaching match point at 24-18. Tech still battled, taking the next three points to draw within four, but the Buckeyes managed to add their final kill for a 25-21 third-set win.
With Ohio State a set away from an upset, both sides traded blows up to a 12-11 Buckeye lead. The Jackets would take seven of the next eight points, gaining control of the set, 18-13. With Tech position to push the match to a fifth set, the Buckeyes stormed back shortly after with a six-point run to take a 21-19 lead. Georgia Tech would even things up three more times at 21, 22 and 23 all, but the Buckeyes took the final two points for a 25-23 fourth-set win and 3-1 match victory.
All-Tournament
Bergmann and Morrissette were both named to the Georgia Tech Classic all-tournament team. Bergmann wrapped up the weekend with 41 kills (5.86 per set) and 11 digs. Morrissette made her mark defensively with six blocks, also picking up four digs and seven kills through the two top-10 contests.

The White and Gold will get back on the road to close out their nonconference slate, heading to Arkansas (7-1) on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Georgia (8-1) on Saturday at 7 p.m.
